Leesburg Student Wins Essay Contest

The VSHL Northern Virginia Chapter has announced the winner of the Helen M. Donovan Memorial Scholarship Pro-Life Essay Contest, which was described in the October, 2003 issue of the Lifesaver. Amber Reyes of Leesburg, a senior at Loudoun County High School, has received the $1,000 first place award for her essay.

All contestants were required to write on the same topic, Roe v. Wade – Thirty Years Later. Miss Reyes’ essay is here.

The $500 second place award winner is Bradley Cypher, also of Leesburg. Brooke Matney of Reston, who attends Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, is the third place winner of a $250 award.

Helen Donovan, for whom the essay contest was named, was a long-time VSHL member active in the Northern Virginia Chapter.
