Former NARAL President Named AmbassadorRobin Chandler Duke, a former President of the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL), has been selected by the Clinton/Gore Administration as the new U.S. Ambassador to Norway. Ms. Duke was presented with NARAL’s "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 1997 by Tipper Gore at NARAL’s annual Roe v. Wade luncheon. Vice President Gore was the keynote speaker at that luncheon where he pledged to the group never to let anyone take away the right to abortion. As the director of the United States Committee for the UNFPA, Ms. Duke has worked to rally financial and political support for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). NARAL has called her an "international advocate for choice."
