Memorial Service Held in HarrisonburgThe Harrisonburg Chapter of VSHL held a memorial service for the victims of abortion on January 22, 2001. Over 50 people braved the challenging weather for an evening service entitled “Remember the Children” at First Assemblies of God Church. Passages from Holy Scripture and other reflections were read by participants from ages 9 to 88. At the end, the lights were lowered and a chime was rung once for each of the 28 years since the 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion decision as a reminder of the loss of unborn lives and human suffering in each of these years. Debbie Zampini, a VSHL member who helped organize the Harrisonburg Chapter in 2000, shared her personal story of abortion and the moral and spiritual aftermath of a decision made years ago without the benefit of informed consent. Many members organized the service under the able leadership of chapter chairman Dr. Will Snuffin.
