Minitree Fulton, R.I.P.Minitree Fulton, age 88, the “rock” of the Peninsula Chapter, passed away on May 4, 2001, at Mary Immaculate Hospital, Newport News, VA. He is survived by his beloved wife Sylvia, who is in poor health and is in a convalescent home. In June 1973, Minitree Fulton and two others set about combating the unjust Roe Vs. Wade decision by sending out numerous letters to clergy and churches throughout Hampton and Newport News inviting them to a meeting establishing the Peninsula Chapter. The meeting was attended by representatives of VSHL, one Catholic pastor, and a few others from the Knights of Columbus and the local community. At first, keeping the chapter going was a struggle and after a few years, Mr. Fulton was the only remaining founder with the chapter. He, with Sylvia always at his side, actively served and supported the chapter for over 21 years. Poor health forced the Fultons to retire from active involvement in VSHL in January 1995. Whenever asked about children, Minitree and Sylvia, who were never blessed with any of their own, would explain that they claimed the aborted babies as their children. They loved them, prayed for them, and dedicated their lives to returning justice to the unborn and upholding respect for human life in all of its stages.
