Geline Williams Reelected NRLC Chairman

Her reelection to office could easily pass without notice. No campaigning, press statements, jockeying for votes, not even an opponent. Without fanfare, Virginia’s own representative to the National Right to Life Committee Board of Directors has been elected once again to serve another two year term as board chairman.

Geline B. Williams of Richmond, VSHL second vice-president and its representative to NRLC, was first elected chairman of the NRLC board in 1981. One hundred or so board meetings later, most lasting two long days, the members representing the other 49 state affiliates of NRLC and at-large members saw no reason to make a change. At the April 2003 board meeting, they reelected her.

Service to worthy causes is nothing new to Mrs. Williams. A civic activist since a young age, she has served on countless boards and committees over the years. The mother of two sons and three daughters and grandmother of twelve, she has gracefully balanced home life with service for decades. From 1984 to 1994 she was a member of Richmond City Council and served as mayor of Richmond from 1988 to 1990.

In early 1967, Geline and her late husband Alex were founders of the Virginia Society for Human Life, Mr. Williams serving as VSHL’s first president. VSHL members are grateful for the significant role our Geline Williams continues to play in the pro-life movement.

Congratulations, Madam Chairman!
