Students: Plan to Enter the 2004 Oratory Contest

The Virginia Society for Human Life is again sponsoring a pro-life oratory contest. The contest will be held in Richmond on Saturday, April 24, 2004, and is newly named in honor of Alex and Geline Williams of Richmond as founding members of VSHL in 1967. Virginia public, private, and home-schooled high school juniors and seniors are invited to compete by researching, writing and delivering a speech on abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, or stem cell research from a pro-life perspective.

Contestants for the Alex and Geline Williams Oratory Contest will be the first and second place winners from local contests held throughout Virginia with special arrangements made for students living more than 50 miles from a contest. The winner of our state competition receives $500 and will represent Virginia at the Jane B. Thompson Oratory Contest at the National Right to Life Convention in Arlington, VA in July 2004.

Interested persons should request a contest packet from Maureen Whalen, VSHL coordinator for the state contest, at 703 669-4457 or loudouncountychapter_vshl@hotmail.com.
