VSHL President comments on Partial-Birth Abortion Ban for Virginia

By the time you read this, the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban for Virginia is in effect. A special thank you to the staff of Virginia's Attorney General, Mark Earley, and Deputy Attorney General William Hurd for making this possible.

As VSHL watches the pro-life movement in Virginia, you as members can be a help to us at the State Office. I would like each one of you to send copies of newspaper clippings concerning all life issues and any information which might be given in the other media in your area. It is impossible for us to see all information. Thank you.

Thank you to Geline Williams, Brenda Fastabend and Kathy Nowinsky for representing the Virginia Society for Human Life at the June 1998 Convention of the National Right to Life Committee, Inc. in Orlando, Florida.

Thank you to Steve Disney who gave the VSHL office so much of his time to search and secure our new headquarters location. All of VSHL appreciates all of his efforts.

On July 20, I attended the Alexandria Chapter of VSHL program and fund-raiser with Senator Robert Smith of New Hampshire as guest speaker. Those attending had the opportunity to view the new NRL ads.

On July 25, I was privileged to attend the 90th birthday celebration for one of our most supportive and active members, Shirley Cox, in Charlottesville. (See resolution below.)

On October 31 in Richmond, VSHL will host an education day for all of you. Special speakers include Virginia Delegate Robert F. McDonnell; Nichole Anderson; Mary Spaulding Balch, State Director for NRLC; Dr. Watson Bowes, Jr., of Chapel Hill, NC; and Brenda Fastabend. The theme for the day is "Roe v. Wade 1973-1998; Not a solution then, still a tragedy today." Looking forward to seeing all of you there.

Thank you for all the support and encouragement you the members have given to VSHL.
