Pro-Life Wins in Special Elections

Five elections for General Assembly seats were held in November and December, all won by Republicans. The VSHL Political Action Committee (PAC) endorsed candidates in four of these races, and all four won.

On Nov. 7, PAC-endorsed Frank Ruff won the 15th State Senate seat which had been held by the late Democratic Senator Richard J. Holland.

Four elections were held on Dec. 19. The results were:

  • PAC-endorsed Frank Wagner won the 7th State Senate seat vacated by newly elected 2nd District Congressman Ed Schrock.
  • PAC-endorsed Tommy Wright won the 61st Delegate seat vacated by Frank Ruff when he won his State Senate seat.
  • PAC-endorsed Melanie Rapp won the 96th Delegate seat vacated by newly elected 1st District Congresswoman Jo Ann Davis.
  • John O’Bannon III won the 73rd Delegate seat vacated by newly elected 7th District Congressman Eric Cantor.
