Eight House Seats Being ContestedEight of Virginia’s eleven Representatives to the U. S. House face opposition in the November 5 elections. Second District pro-life Congressman Ed Schrock (R) is being challenged by Democrat attorney David Ashe. Law student Jonathan Menefee, a Democrat, is running against pro-life Congressman J. Randy Forbes (R), Fourth District incumbent. Pro-life Congressman Virgil Goode (R) who represents Virginia’s Fifth District faces vintner Democrat Al Weed. Tenth District pro-life Republican Congressman Frank Wolf is being challenged by former congressional aide, Democrat James Socas. In the Eleventh District, Republican Congressman Tom Davis’s opponent is Democrat Kenneth Longmeyer , a retired Foreign Service Officer. Challengers to incumbents include former House of Delegates Republican Winsome Sears who is challenging pro-abortion Congressman Bobby Scott (D) for the Third District congressional seat. Sears had a 100 percent pro-life voting record during her term in the Virginia House of Delegates. Pro-life Republican Lisa Marie Cheney (no relation to Vice President Cheney) seeks to unseat pro-abortion Congressman Jim Moran (D) in the Eighth District. Kevin Triplett, a former NASCAR official and journalist, is the pro-life Republican challenger to pro-abortion Congressman Rick Boucher (D) for the Ninth District seat in Southwest Virginia. Pro-life incumbents JoAnn Davis, Bob Goodlatte and Eric Cantor, members of Congress from the first, sixth, and seventh House districts respectively, have no major party opposition.
