Northern Virginia Women Safer without NOVA Abortion Facility
The citizens of Fairfax City and the surrounding Fairfax County have reason to be extremely pleased today at the news that NOVA Women’s Health Care, the abortion facility responsible for performing the greatest number of abortions in the Commonwealth of Virginia, has been closed.
After losing their lease at the former site and then failing to meet mandatory Virginia Department of Health regulations and Fairfax City safety requirements, the facility’s owners were forced to close. This same facility has seen numerous safety violations, botched abortions and even a patient death as result of the reckless and unscrupulous standards practiced there by the abortionist/owner, Mi Yong Kim.
A hearing was held by the Fairfax City Council two months ago regarding the possibility of a new facility being opened by the owner in city limits. During the two and a half hour period of comment, the City Council members heard from close to 100 people who voiced their concerns that not only was the proposed larger facility more dangerous, it was also a public nuisance.
VSHL members from the city and surrounding area, including VSHL President, Olivia Gans Turner, attended and voiced their opposition to any new facility opening in Fairfax.
Recently, the City Council voted to establish new guidelines that would impose stricter standards on so called “women’s health facilities”. These new guidelines will provide greater protection to women in the region from threats posed by callous abortionists.
Regarding today’s news Turner said, “Today babies and their mothers are safer in Northern Virginia because this deadly facility has been closed. Abortion is often a dangerous procedure for women and always a deadly one for their innocent unborn children. There really is no such thing as a safe abortion.”
