VIRGINIA SOCIETY FOR HUMAN LIFE REPRESENTATIVE TO TAKE PART IN "SILENT NO MORE" CAMPAIGN AT SUPREME COURTEileen Roberts, Executive Director of the Virginia Society for Human Life, will participate in the "Silent No More Campaign" on the steps of the U. S. Supreme Court on Wednesday (September 10) at noon. "Over 200,000 minor aged girls have abortions every year in America, without their parent's knowledge or consent, and mothers and grandmothers like me will not be silent," according to Mrs. Roberts whose family suffered the consequences of a teen abortion in 1987. Testimonies will be presented by women who have been silent since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision which legalized abortion for any reason, during all nine months of pregnancy. Since the Court decision, over 43 million abortions have been performed legally in the United States. Oliva Gans, director of American Victims of Abortion, an outreach of the National Right to Life Committee, is an organizer of the campaign. "It can no longer be assumed that abortion is good for women. America must seek out the truth about legalized abortion's damage to all concerned. We must prepare ourselves to provide better, life-affirming answers to mothers and their children in crisis. We must demand them and we will!" Since 1967, the Virginia Society for Human Life has worked closely with the Virginia General Assembly in passing protective laws that help women and children. Legislation passed in recent years includes informed consent before abortion, parental notification and consent, and bills to ban partial-birth abortion and infanticide. VSHL seeks to promote positive, nonviolent solutions to human problems, rather than destructive ones and supports legislation which insures and enhances the right to life of each member of the human family both before and after birth. The Virginia Society for Human Life is the largest pro-life organization in Virginia and the Virginia affiliate of National Right to Life based in Washington, D.C.
